The purpose of this weblog is not yet set. Maybe it will be way to share experiences from developing a mobile content framework that we today call AVIN - Available Internet. Maybe we will get hints from others, maybe not :-)

Flash vs AJAX on mobile devices?

I've been playing around with javascript and AJAX on different cell phones. They don't have the AJAX support they claim. Nokia N95*, iPod**, and SonyEricsson G502*** works fine with simpler javascripts such as Blendtrans but Thickbox behaved very strange in different ways on all tree devices. I also tried Opera Mobile 8.65 and it couldn't even handle positioning of layers. This makes me believe that maybe Adobe Flash has a shot of becoming the standard for developing  web applications for smaller devices.  I'm not saying you can't get it to work on the three mentioned devices but you probably will need to make small alterations for each one. Maybe someone could point out to me where I find specifactions of what capability is to be expected from Opera Mini, NetFont 3.5 and Nokia 4.0 browser?
